LABW Stuttgart

In early 2024, we had the privilege to collaborate with the Landesarchiv Baden-Württemberg and Fraunhofer IGD for an extraordinary pilot project at the main state archives in Stuttgart. Utilizing our CultArm3D systems, we digitized several highly significant historical artifacts, including the renowned “Golden Bull” from 1356.

The Golden Bull holds immense historical significance, as it established the rights of the seven electors who had the power to choose the German king, effectively shaping the political structure our country for centuries. What makes this project particularly special is that the Golden Bull, recognized as UNESCO heritage, may only be removed from its safe every five years, making our 3D digitization endeavor an exceptionally rare opportunity.

The project demonstrated how 3D digitization technology allows us to preserve artifacts in an incredibly detailed and accurate way. For items like the Golden Bull, which demand special care and protection, 3D digitization offers a way to make these treasures accessible to the public without compromising their integrity. Visitors can now explore this piece of history in an entirely new dimension, thanks to the cutting-edge capabilities of our CultArm3D technology.

The project extended beyond just one artifact. We also digitized other fascinating objects, such as historical dueling pistols tied to an assassination attempt on King Wilhelm I of Prussia, and even soccer shoes signed by Germany's 1954 World Cup-winning team. The diversity of these items demonstrated the versatility and adaptability of our 3D scanning technology, capable of capturing everything from delicate seals to large, intricate objects.

As a part of the digitization process, we also explored how these 3D models can be displayed in interactive ways, like on media tables or in virtual exhibitions, allowing a broader audience to engage with history in a tangible, modern way. This shows how 3D digitization is becoming indispensable for museums, archives, and institutions dedicated to preserving cultural heritage.

Our team is proud to have been part of this groundbreaking project, and we look forward to many more opportunities to bridge the gap between cultural heritage and modern day technology.
